Phase Stormer 1

Phase Stormer 1.0 is the base Nanovor of the Phase tree and is a Wave 1 Nanovor.

What is Phase Stormer supposed to be? Why does it have a window on that thing on its head? What is that thing on its head? There are so many questions I have about this Nanovor...

The move Icy Sigh leaves me to theorize that the thing on Phase Stormer 1.0's head is in fact a freezer that refrigerates its very breath!

Phase Stormer 1.0 can also use Whammy to cripple the opponent's SPD, which is useful if you are facing off against a swarm full of Hexites.

It's an OK setter of Yellow Spike overrides, but Plasma Lash 1.0 competes heavily for that role, who costs 10 SV less.

Overall, Phase Stormer 1.0 is a very mediocre Nanovor that we can only hope improves in its later stages.

OVERVIEW[]

  • Phase Stormer is a total goof. It looks goofy. It acts goofy. I've never seen a Nanovor with such an inflated sense of ego (do they have egos? I guess so...). Before a battle, it'll strut around like it's the king, taunting the enemy. It's best just to let it believe that yes, it's special. Pat it on the head and then kick it in the butt to get it into battle. Once it gets in there, it'll go crazy, dancing around, flexing, and generally making itself look bigger than it really is. It's hard not to smile when you see this, though. Phase Stormer LOVES taunting other Nanovor and this gets it in a lot of trouble.

TACTICS[]

  • As mentioned above, Phase Stormer should be considered a pinch hitter.  Bring it in to get a specific job done and then get it the heck out of there. It's great to use mid-game or even late in battle, when your opponent is sitting on some beat-up Nanovor. Phase Stormer should stay in your back pocket until you're ready to swap it out. DON'T bring it out too early or you'll be showing your ace in the hole. When your opponent's Nanovor are looking all beaten up, do a quick swap with Phase Stormer, hit the opponent with a Whammy (and a few Icy Sighs if you're feeling mean), and then swap it back out. Rotate in any Nanovor you want at that point and deal the killing blow. Of course, remember to lavish the praise on Phase Stormer after you win, or you'll be dealing with it sulking for weeks.

COUNTER TACTICS[]

  • Beat Phase Stormer with Speed! Prepare a swarm of Hexites. Start off with your Spike Spine 1.0 for a quick Charge attack before swapping in your Battle Kraken 2.0 to use his Tentacle Zap. Even if Phase Stormer tries to bring down your speed, your Nanovor are so fast by nature that they’ll still have a chance of going first!
  • Save Your Big Hitters! Phase Stormer may be a one pesky Nanovor, but he’s not usually your opponent’s most dangerous weapon. So, swap in one of your alphas like Battle Kraken 1.0 and keep hitting Phase Stormer with a Crunch attack. Battle Kraken will be significantly weakened, but Phase Stormer will get squished first, and you’ll still have saved up your more powerful Nanovor's health to fight stronger opponents!
  • Make Your Nanovor Faster! Start with your Electropod 1.0, who will deal respectable damage with Electroshock for just 1 EN. Then swap in your Circuit Flyer 2.0 and use the Power Surge override. Even if Phase Stormer deducted some of your speed, Power Surge will bring it back!

Discovery[]

  • I didn't find Phase Stormer, it found me! While I was out hunting down an Electropod to use against Nathan, I came across a few of them inside an old router box that was hooked up to my dad's computer. Yeah, when something breaks on his, ugh, ancient system, he asks me to fix it. Anyway, I spotted two Electropods who were just sitting there, watching something. After angling the Nanoscope, I saw this crazy looking Nanovor taunting these poor little guys. I swear, it was almost mooning them! (Note: I think that was a Nanovor butt. Honestly, I don't want to know...). One of the Electropods apparently got fed up with being called a chump and let loose. So what does this new Nanovor do? It lets loose with something that I call the Whammy, leaving the Electropod sitting there, stuck. I snatched up this 'vor, called it Phase Stormer, and plotted how to taunt Nathan with it.

ORIGINS[]

  • Phase Stormer utilizes many of the same aggressive displays common in the animal world to make itself seem like a bigger threat than it really is. This often results in the opponent becoming enraged and making mistakes. The special ability that Lucas calls the "Whammy" prevents the enemy from fleeing, allowing the Phase Stormer or other Nanovor to regroup and/or attack en masse. This shows far more intelligence and forethought than I once believed possible in these creatures.
